Historic
Jackson Street, Cape May
The
Inn at 22 Jackson is located on Cape May's oldest street.
This
is how Jackson Street looked in 1910. The famous Cape May
fire of 1878 destroyed all of the buildings on the street.
The street was rebuilt, in the style of the era - the Victorian
era.
Here's
a photo of Jackson Street today.
Many of the same Victorian era buildings, including the Inn
at 22 Jackson, are still standing.
The
street is well known for its fine restaurants, inns and shops.
You
can see the Inn at 22 Jackson in this old postcard - it's
the building with the turret.
The
home was built for Harry and Dorothy Parker from Philadelphia
in 1899. The Parkers used it as their summer "cottage."
For
fun, pass your cursor over the postcard - to see the Inn at
22 Jackson in the past and the present.
